Columbus stabbing suspect arrested and charged

COLUMBUS, Ga. (WTVM) – The suspect wanted in connection with a stabbing incident in Columbus has been arrested.

Jerry Allen, 57, was taken into custody Tuesday and charged with aggravated assault, according to Columbus police. Allen’s arrest comes just a day after authorities asked the public for help in locating him.

Saturday, officers responded to the Ralston Tower on 12th Street. They found a male victim with a stab wound, who was initially taken to Piedmont Columbus Regional with life-threatening injuries. The victim was later flown to an Atlanta hospital for further treatment.

Allen is expected to appear in the Recorder’s Court for a preliminary hearing on Friday at 1:30 p.m
