Four teens charged with trespassing and assaulting a Kempsville High School student

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. – Four teenagers are facing charges in connection with an attack that injured a girl at Kempsville High School last Tuesday, police say.

Parents are reacting to a student bringing a loaded gun to Chesapeake High School

Police say on October 22, a School Resource Officer with the Virginia Beach Police Department was notified of a physical altercation that occurred on school grounds.

According to police, a 17-year-old girl was injured during the altercation. The injured girl was a Kempsville High student and the people who attacked her were students from another school, according to a message sent to the Kempsville High School community by Principal Melissa George.

A few days later, on October 25, four suspects were identified and arrested, police say.

Police say the following women, all 18 years old, have been charged with conspiring to enter school grounds and be attacked by the mob: Ashlynn James of Virginia Beach, Jalaaiyah Rucker of Norfolk and Kina Pass-Cutler of Norfolk. A 17-year-old girl is also facing these charges.

The three 18-year-olds also face misdemeanor trespassing charges and James and Rucker face simple charges, police added.

Police have not shared any information about the nature of the assault or the condition of the injured girl.

Principal George’s message sent to the Kempsville High School community after the attack reads:

Kempsville High School families and staff,

I would like to inform you of an incident at our school involving students from outside our school community. These individuals were involved in an attack on one of our students. Please know that we take the safety and security of our students and staff seriously and have immediately contacted a school resource officer.

Working with our Office of Security and Emergency Management, we have extensively reviewed our security procedures and made appropriate adjustments. We remain committed to a safe and stimulating learning environment for all students.

I ask that you remind your child to immediately notify an adult if he or she has any information that could affect the safety and security of our school. Essentially, if they see or hear something, they need to say something to a trusted adult. If you or your child have any concerns or need additional support, please contact me or a member of my administrative team.
