Sean “Diddy” Combs charged for alleged sexual abuse of 10-year-old

Alleged Combs lyrics read in court

In May 2024, CNN published a clip of a hotel surveillance video from 2016 appeared to show Combs attacking his then-girlfriend Cassieborn Cassandra Ventura. (The attack was consistent with an alleged incident detailed in the lawsuit she filed against Combs on November 16, 2023; both parties announced a settlement the next day.)

“I was confused. I hit rock bottom,” Combs said in a video posted to Instagram in response to the footage. “But I’m not making excuses. My behavior in that video is inexcusable. I take full responsibility for my actions in that video.” He has since undergone therapy and rehabilitation, he added, and was “determined to become a better man every day.”

During a Sept. 18 hearing on Combs’ second bail request, Assistant U.S. Attorney Emily Johnson said, according to NBC News Combs is said to have sent a text message in the days after the attack which said: ‘Call me, the police are here.’ Another read: ‘I have six children. Call, I’m surrounded.’

Johnson did not say Cassie’s name in court. She said Combs’ victim responded via text message, “Sick, you think it’s okay to do what you did.”

Bail was again denied, this time by the U.S. District Judge Andrew L. Carter Jr.
