Retail theft incident leads to arrest in Wilkes-Barre


Wilkes-Barre, PA – Wilkes-Barre Municipal Police responded to a retail theft incident at 15 South Main Street on October 15 at 2:29 p.m. Police were called to the scene after reports of stolen goods.

Upon arrival, officers spoke with Loss Prevention Personnel. They reported observing defendant Blake Mackesy, 52, of Kingston, PA, enter a dressing room with a cart full of items.

Mackesy was later seen leaving the locker room with a shopping bag containing selected items from the cart. He then left the store without paying.

Loss prevention detained Mackesy, who was later taken into custody and transported for processing. The value of the stolen property totaled $619.

  • Public Intoxication Call Ends With Drug Arrest

    Wilkes-Barre, PA – Authorities responded to a public incident of intoxication and possession of drug paraphernalia on Tuesday.

    The incident occurred on Brader Drive at 7:24 p.m. Officers were dispatched to the scene following reports of an intoxicated and disorderly man, Gregory Cierniakoski.

    Upon arrival, officers were informed by the complainant that Cierniakoski was intoxicated and had left the residence. Officers later found him and noted he was under the influence of a controlled substance to a dangerous degree.

    Cierniakoski, 42, was arrested and a search revealed possession of drug paraphernalia. He was then transported to the city headquarters for processing.

  • Blue Cares and local partners join forces in Carteret

    Carteret, NJ – On Tuesday, members of Blue Cares, the Carteret Police Department and the Middlesex County Prosecutor’s Office collaborated with thirty local vendors to raise awareness and provide resources to the Carteret community. The event focused on supporting those dealing with substance use disorders.

    Middlesex County law enforcement’s Blue Cares initiative aims to help individuals facing substance use issues. Works in partnership with community stakeholders to implement effective treatment and prevention strategies with the goal of breaking cycles of addiction and encouraging recovery.

    Blue Cares’ key features include a 24-hour helpline accessible to individuals or their loved ones seeking assistance, information or recovery help. It is important to note that access to the hotline does not require insurance.
