ECU Eastern Region Pharmacy Center hosts PharmaFest 2024

GREENVILLE, NC (WITN) – The ECU Eastern Region Pharmacy Center hosted its annual PharmaFest on Wednesday.

The career development fair held in the Life Sciences and Biotechnology Building on campus offered students from ECU and partner community colleges in eastern North Carolina the opportunity to speak with representatives from regional pharmaceutical companies about potential career paths.

The fair was open to students from all areas of activity and also to those interested in pursuing a career in the pharmaceutical industry.

Pharma Center Director Dr Loren Limberis says it was great to see ECU alumni working as representatives for many of the companies that were at the event.

“We want current students to see themselves in the industry and then talk one-on-one with these alumni to say, ‘This was my path, I’m a finance major. Now I’m working at one of these pharmaceutical companies. I have a degree in mechanical engineering, I never thought I would be in the pharmaceutical industry, but here I am,” said Dr. Limberis.

Pablo Nunez stopped by PharmaFest to learn more about the potential career opportunities offered throughout North Carolina.

“This is incredible! For students, it’s life-changing,” Nunez said. “Sometimes, in addition to classes and everything else, events like this, networking and everything else are usually better for looking for new opportunities and securing that job in the future.”

According to the North Carolina Biotechnology Center, North Carolina is the nation’s third-leading state for biotechnology, with more than 800 life sciences and pharmaceutical companies employing more than 75,000 people.
