Moment when 4-year-old mother locks herself out of the house Caught on camera: ‘Wants to scream’

A woman has shared footage of the moment she was locked out by her four-year-old son.

Being left out is a painful thing, but all too familiar reality for millions of people. According to a survey by ADS Security, approximately 16,000 people in the US are locked out of their cars or homes every day.

However, it’s unlikely that many people will have been left out by their toddler, and even fewer will have managed to capture the whole saga for later. share on social media.

However, that’s what happened to Dayana Alva and her four-year-old son during what started out as an ordinary day at their family’s home in Oklahoma.

“I was building a rocking chair and decided to finish building it outside because it’s patio furniture,” Alva said. Newsweek. “He came in and out of the house. He likes to open and close doors, so when he was playing it wasn’t unusual.”

Alva remembers looking in from the front yard, closing the door behind him and thinking everything was fine. But when she went to follow him inside, she quickly discovered that this was not the case.

“He had locked the door and was just standing inside looking at me,” she said. Alva tried to explain to her son how to open the door. “He had never locked a door before, so I didn’t want to scare him,” she said. “I was just trying to show him how to unlock But he just didn’t understand, or so I thought.”

About 15 minutes passed as Alva tried everything she could think of to get in. “I was definitely worried,” she said. “I called my fiancé at work but couldn’t reach him. I assumed my fiancé would call back and I would have him come and let me in, but he didn’t, so that’s when I started worrying more to worry.”

Alva said what made the situation “ironic” was that she always made it a point to lock all the locks “so he wouldn’t come out of the house.” Now those same locks prevented her from getting to him.

In the video Alva later posted TikTok Below the handle dyn_alva, she can be seen frantically waving towards a security camera they have outside their home, hoping her partner will see the alerts on his phone.

It was around this point that she started filming what was going on. “When I noticed that my son was surprisingly calm, I started recording to show my fiancé,” Alva said.

Not all the responses that have come since have been helpful.

“People in the comments said I could have climbed through a window, but everything was locked,” Alva said. “And even though we have a PIN code at our front door, I normally lock it all up so the PIN machine wouldn’t have been any help.”

Finally, with some clumsy maneuvering, Alva was able to get into the backyard of the house and get the back door open.

It was then that she discovered, to her understandable frustration, that her son had indeed known how to unlock the door and had done so while she strangled herself to walk to the back of the property.

As Alva said in the video’s caption, this discovery made her “want to scream.” However, she takes some solace in the comments online.

“I was a little nervous about sharing the experience on this platform because you don’t always get a friendly welcome, but the mom community was so kind and started sharing their experiences to show me that I wasn’t alone,” she said .

“I was actually shocked. I didn’t think so many people would say the same thing had happened to them.”

Alva confirmed that steps have since been taken to prevent a recurrence. “I’m just glad it wasn’t anything serious and we could laugh about it,” she said. “We now always have keys available.”
