Donald Trump: Did Donald Trump’s campaign offer Stormy Daniels money to remain silent during the 2024 US elections?

As the 2024 US presidential election approaches, former President Donald Trump’s legal team has reportedly made efforts to once again silence adult film star Stormy Daniels, offering a financial settlement in exchange for her silence about her alleged past relationship.

According to an MSNBC report, this attempt, which took place over the summer, came as Trump faces legal challenges related to hush money payments made to Daniels before the 2016 election.

Silent money payments

Daniels’ saga gained widespread attention earlier this year when she gave explosive testimony about hush payments she received from Trump’s former lawyer Michael Cohen during the 2016 campaign.

The payments, made to prevent Daniels from speaking publicly about an affair she claims to have had with Trump, became the central issue in a criminal trial in New York. Trump has consistently denied the affair, as mentioned in an NBC report.

The jury in that case convicted Trump of 34 felony counts of falsifying business records tied to the payments. This marked a historic moment, as it was the first time that a former US president was convicted of a crime.

Trump’s legal offer for a silent deal

In a separate legal matter, Daniels was ordered to cover Trump’s legal fees after losing a defamation lawsuit she had filed against him.

In a letter obtained by MSNBC, Trump’s lawyers proposed a $620,000 settlement — a reduction from the original amount owed by Daniels — on the condition that she remain silent about her past interactions with Trump. The letter, dated July, stated that Daniels must agree not to make any public or private statements about Trump, his business dealings or his run for president.

However, Daniels’ lawyer rejected the offer, refusing the condition of silence. Maddow reported that they later reached a settlement for a slightly higher amount of $627,500, but without any agreement for Daniels to remain silent.

Trump campaign denies allegations

In response to the revelations, Trump campaign spokesman Steven Cheung issued a statement denying the legitimacy of the documents, claiming they were obtained through an illegal hacking attempt.

Cheung further stated that Daniels was held accountable for her alleged mistakes by being forced to pay Trump’s legal fees.

However, MSNBC clarified that the documents were obtained legally from Daniels’ lawyer, rejecting the hacking allegations.

Legal implications for Trump before the 2024 elections

The attempt to silence Daniels has raised questions about Trump’s legal strategy as he campaigns for the 2024 presidential election.

Despite his conviction on 34 criminal charges related to hush money payments, Trump remains a prominent figure in the Republican Party and continues to run for office. He is expected to face sentencing in the case next month.

The silence scandal, which first emerged during Trump’s 2016 campaign, continues to cast a shadow over his political career. Although Daniels has refused to be silenced, the former president’s legal battles show no sign of abating as the 2024 elections approach.
