Tiverton Library hosts a screening of “The Gold Rush”

Tiverton Public Library is hosting a free screening of Charlie Chaplin’s classic silent film, ‘The Gold Rush’, with live musical accompaniment on Wednesday, November 13 at 6pm. The event is open to the public and will be held at the Library, located at 34 Roosevelt Avenue in Tiverton, RI.

Set during the Klondike gold rush of the 1890s, the film follows the story of a gold digger, played by Chaplin, who seeks his fortune and falls in love with a dance hall girl. Pianist Richard Hughes will provide background information about the film and accompany the screening on piano.

Hughes, who developed a passion for silent films and their music at a young age, travels around New England presenting these programs. He wants to share the fun of these classic films and offer a glimpse into the past.

Tiverton Library Services strives to be a valuable resource for community enrichment and personal growth. Their programs, services and collections meet the diverse needs of the Tiverton community and enhance its educational, cultural, social and economic well-being.
