Manistique Area Schools are only offering virtual options for Halloween Parade due to safety concerns

MANISTIQUE, Mich. (WLUC) – Manistique Area Schools released a statement Wednesday afternoon regarding the Halloween parade.

Comments on the area school’s Facebook page indicate that the decision is based on feedback from parents and staff, who express concerns that opening the building to the public at this time is not the right choice for the peace of mind of the school community.

The decision comes just one day later Manistique Public Schools held a special assembly where more than 150 parents expressed their concerns about safety at school.

Earlier this month, The police investigated a threat via text message but found that no credible threat had been made against schools in Schoolcraft County. However, at Tuesday night’s meeting, parents were angry as they stated the threat was investigated and only reported to parents after the investigation was completed.
