Auburn Athletics announces Jared Benko as its new executive deputy athletic director

AUBURN, Ala. (WBRC) – Georgia Southern Director of Athletics Jared Benko has been announced as the new Executive Deputy Athletics Director, AU Director of Athletics John Cohen announced.

According to Auburn Athletics, Benko will focus on the strategic planning and implementation of a structure to ensure Auburn can compete at the highest level. He previously served at AU as assistant athletic director for finance.

Benko comes to the Plains with nearly two decades of experience in athletics administration. In addition to his time at Auburn, he previously held positions at Georgia, Arkansas and Mississippi State before becoming director of athletics at Georgia Southern.

Under Benko, Georgia Southern Athletics secured the three largest gifts in athletic department history and set four consecutive fundraising records from 2020-2024.

Benko also chaired the Sun Belt Conference Athletic Directors Committee from 2022-2024.
