Londoners tired of phone thieves catch suspect seconds after robbery | UK News

A suspected phone thief was arrested seconds after a phone was stolen after members of the public helped police arrest him.

CCTV footage shows two men on electric bikes riding up Ludgate Hill towards St Paul’s. The video shows the first suspect stealing a phone from a woman. They were found by police officers, the first suspect avoided the officers by riding on the sidewalk at high speed.

The second suspect, aged 23, from Southwark, walked back in the direction from where the phone was stolen. Members of the public, who witnessed the phone being stolen, slowed the suspect down, allowing police officers, who were running down the road, to arrest him.

It's a silver iPhone with two distinct stickers on the back. One sticker is from the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York, dated October 7th. Police officers are exploring leads to identify and arrest the main suspect.
