LA Dodgers win World Series in 5 games

If you’re in Los Angeles, you’re probably reading this on deaf ears, as the LA Dodgers defeated the NY Yankees to secure their 8th World Series title.

The Dodgers got the win in game 5, handing the defeat to the Yankees at Yankee Stadium 7-6.

Game five probably should have come with Ativan for LA fans as the Yankees were able to maintain a 5-0 lead that they held until the 6th inning. The Dodgers got the help of a 2-run home run from Freddie Freeman to head into the 9th inning and led 7-6. And you know the rest.

Dodgers co-owner Magic Johnson and his wife Cookie were present every night of the World Series. “That was one of the most exciting World Series games I have seen or been a part of! It left me breathless, and it was only Game 1! ,” Johnson wrote in a post shared on Instagram after the first match.

The first game of the Series started as a pitching battle between Jack Flaherty and Gerrit Cole and culminated in a 10th inning match after the teams were tied 2-2 at the end of the 9th inning. The opportunity to take the lead briefly blinded the Yankees in the top of the ninth after Gleyber Torres hit a ball deep into center field, but a bout of fan interference sent him back to second base instead of all the way home. Freddie Freeman ultimately hit the first walk-off grand slam in World Series history, lifting the Dodgers to a decisive 6-3 victory.

The teams returned to Dodger Stadium on October 27 for the second game. The hometown crowd was excited by both teams’ early scores and the Dodgers’ back-to-back home runs in the third inning after both Teosscar and Freeman helped the team. 4-1 lead.

Pitcher Yoshinobu Yamamoto also had an exceptional game – allowing only one hit – and remained on the mound until the 7th inning. The Yankees tried to rally late in the game, but the Dodgers ultimately prevailed.

The Dodgers proved ruthless two nights later at Yankee Stadium when they defeated the Yankees again. Both an injured Shohei Otani and Freeman provided the team with runs and Mookie Betts drove in Tommy Edman for a 3-0 lead before ending the third inning. Dodgers pitcher Walker Buehler also threw five scoreless innings.

The Yankees attempted another late-game rally, but it wasn’t enough to come back from the loss and the game ended 4–2 in favor of the Dodgers.

The fourth game of the World Series was suitably dramatic. In the bottom of the first inning, a fan reached into Mookie Betts’ glove to grab his caught ball hit by Gleyber Torres, prompting an immediate response from Betts (Torres was still called out and the fan was ejected from the competition controlled). The Yankees remained scoreless until the bottom of the second inning after Anthony Volpe came home after third base coach Luis Rojas stopped him from scoring earlier.

Volpe turned the tide of the game in the bottom of the third inning after he sent a monster hit over the right field wall to drive in four runs, making it 5-2 in favor of the Yankees.

The Dodgers made a small comeback in the 5th after Will Smith hit a home run over the right field wall and Tommy Edman scored on a hit by Freeman, but the score remained 6-4 (Yankees) through the 8th inning.
