Phases: MRT offers ‘Frankenstein’ to keep Halloween spirits alive this November – Lowell Sun

Today is Halloween, but it will remain a spooky time into November, when “Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein” runs from November 8 to 24 at Lowell’s Merrimack Repertory Theater.

The Merrimack Repertory Theater (MRT) brings David Catlin’s play to life in collaboration with Cincinnati Shakespeare Company.

“It’s a no-brainer: Mary Shelley’s ‘Frankenstein’ is a must-see this spooky season. With its electrifying performances, stunning design and powerful storytelling, it pulsates with Broadway-caliber magic,” said Liz Eichler of the League of Cincinnati Theaters.

Catlin’s adaptation not only clarifies the fictional story of the novel, but also the true events of how the book came to be.

Brace yourself for an adventure into the heart of darkness with this fresh interpretation of the legendary story. As the theater darkens, you ask yourself: what makes us monsters?

Whether you’re a long-time fan of Shelley’s work or discovering the story for the first time, this production offers an incredible mix of love, laughter and thrilling moments that will keep you on the edge of your seat. It is an extraordinary theatrical experience that walks the line between good and evil.

“Frankenstein has stood the test of time because of its big questions about life and the nature of humanity. We look forward to sharing this classic with MRT audiences and local students as part of our student matinee program,” said Courtney Sale, Executive Artistic Director of Nancy Donahue.

“Anyone who’s ever been a fan or anyone who thinks they might want to know more about Frankenstein and his monster, this is the version for them,” said director Brian Isaac Phillips, artistic director and CEO of the Cincinnati Shakespeare Company.

“Frankenstein” features an ensemble cast of five actors playing multiple roles: John Patrick Hayden, Jasimine Bouldin, Alexis Bronkovic, Jay Wade and Billy Chace.
