New Forest: Calls for better signage for livestock after woman dies

Andrew Parry Norton, chairman of the New Forest Commoners Defense Association, which represents ordinary New Forest people and their animals, urged people to stay away from livestock and to report cases where livestock showed signs of aggression.

“We share the forest with a lot of people,” he said. “We as ordinary people also have a responsibility.”

Hampshire County Council said in a statement: “Whilst the County Council would install highway-related signage, primarily for drivers, responsibility for livestock, on land crossing a right of way, and any associated required signs, would rest with the owners of the animals.”
