Driver faces drunken driving charges after killing passenger in crash in Las Vegas

LAS VEGAS, Nev. (FOX5) – Nevada State Police have identified the victim and suspect of a wrong-way crash near Boulder Highway.

NSP responded to the incident on October 25, just before 3 a.m., where two vehicles collided head-on.

According to police, a black 2023 Toyota Corolla was traveling south in a northbound lane.

The driver of the Toyota has been identified as 22-year-old Alyssa Scott.

Officials reported that a silver 2012 Cadillac CTS was traveling north in the left lane when they saw the Toyota coming toward them. They tried to get out of the way, but ended up hitting each other.

Marilyn Amilia Rodriguez, 18, was the passenger in the Toyota, who later died at the hospital from her injuries, state police said.

Scott was booked into the Clark County Detention Center but is currently receiving care at an area hospital.

NSP reports that Scott is facing multiple charges, including misdemeanor DUI, reckless driving, having an open alcohol container in a car and failure to drive properly on a divided highway.

Scott is scheduled to appear in court on November 5.

Traffic police officers have investigated 61 fatal crashes in 2024 so far.
