One user, Anand Bellad, commented: “What a waste of public service…how can a public transport system be so at a standstill…unless it’s an emergency stop.” Another user, Mayuresh, suggested reducing the service frequency instead of stopping it altogether. “Discouraging step. Metro should be available. They could have reduced the frequency to 30 minutes if they weren’t expecting many passengers. More than 20,000 crores audience money Investments are being made in the subway… Metro officials need to understand the numbers first,” he wrote.

Members of local passenger groups also expressed their dissatisfaction, with Raju Duttarao Pawar of the Pune Pravasi Group stating that public services should not stop, especially on a festive night.

Responding to the feedback, Pune Metro official Hemant Sonawane explained that the decision was based on the expected low number of passengers during the festival night. “It wouldn’t be fair for the drivers to work for so few passengers,” he noted.

Regular service hours will resume on Saturday, November 2, from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m.
