Jharkhand Elections 2024: The Bharatiya Janata Part (BJP) on Friday reached an agreement with All Jharkhand Students Union (AJSU), Janata Dal United (JDU) and Chirag Paswan. According to the seat division formula, the BJP will contest 68 seats, AJSU 10, JDU 2 and LJP-RV 1 in Jharkhand.

Sudesh Mahto’s Jharkhand Students’ Union (AJSU) will contest in 10 seats – Silli, Ramgarh, Gomia, Ichaghar, Mandu, Jugsalai, Dumri, Pakur, Lohardaga and Manoharpur. While Nitish Kumar’s Janata Dal-United (JDU) will contest two seats – Tamar and Jamshedpur East, Chirag Paswan’s (Ram Vilas) Lok Janshakti Party will contest an Assembly seat from Chatra.

What happened in 2014

The BJP and AJSU allied in the 2014 Jharkhand Assembly elections and won 43 seats, BJP 37 and AJSU 6. together. The parties did not have any alliance in the 2019 Jharkhand Assembly polls. The turnout was BJP 37, JMM 19, JVM 08, Congress 6, AJSU 05, BSP 01, CPI(ML-L) 01, JKP 01, JBSP 01, NSAM 01, MCO 01

Meanwhile, filing of nomination papers for 43 constituencies in Jharkhand, scheduled for polling on November 13 in phase 1, began on Friday, an election official said. The nomination process will continue until October 25th, with applications accepted from 11am to 3pm.

The constituencies going to polls in the general category on November 13 are Kodarma, Barkatha, Barhi, Barkagaon, Hazaribagh, Baharagora, Jamshedpur East, Jamshedpur West, Ichagarh, Ranchi, Hatia, Panki, Daltonganj, Bishrampur, Hussainabad, Garhwa and Bhawanathpur . The ST seats are Ghatsila, Potka, Seraikella, Chaibasa, Majhgaon, Jaganathpur, Manoharpur, Chakradharpur, Kharsawan, Tamar, Torpa, Khunti, Mandar, Sisai, Gumla, Bishunpur, Simdega, Kolebira, Lohardaga and Manika. Besides, SC constituencies – Simaria, Chatra, Jugsalai, Kanke, Latehar and Chhatarpur – are also scheduled to go to polls on the day.
