What could be cozier than tea-inspired looks?Lauren Herd for varsity

When looking for fashion inspiration offline this fall, look no further than your kitchen cabinet. What could be more autumnal than a cozy cup of your favorite hot drink? We took on the challenge of translating our favorite teas, from classic Earl Gray to subtle nettle, into looks that encapsulate what is so special about autumn fashion.

Elegant berryLauren Herd for varsity

We started with a basic herbal tea: lots of berries. Red fruit tea has a sweet flavor that makes you nostalgic for the summer that just passed. The same can be said of its fashion incarnation. The essence of this look translates with or without a coat, which is practical for the ever-changing temperatures of early autumn, and a reflection of the transitional flavor of this tea. With sweet touches like heart-print socks and soft pink accents on the trench coat juxtaposed with the bolder tones of the denim skirt, this look captures the feeling of drinking a comforting cup of berry tea on the first cold day of the year. . season.

Nettle tea is green tea’s subtler little sisterLauren Herd for varsity

Nettle tea is green tea’s subtler little sister; Smooth and naturally caffeine-free, it’s the perfect companion for a late-night writing slump. Autumnal looks don’t have to be limited to the classic browns and darker reds they’re so famous for. Ultimately, autumnal fashion is above all comfort and warmth, which makes the soft fabric of pale green corduroy pants a comforting antidote to colder weather and a nod to the calming color of nettle tea. The floral motifs in this look, from the floral details on the cardigan to the lily of the valley earrings, remind you that one day spring and summer will return.

Subtle gold details and a soft color scheme evoke the rich flavor of Earl GrayLauren Herd for varsity

Without a doubt, Earl Grey’s rich flavor—and, of course, its regal name—lends itself to dark, academic-inspired clothing. This look incorporates the classic academic silhouette with soft gray and green tones reminiscent of late autumn nights. The subtle gold details, like the buckles on the shoes, evoke the strong and unique taste of Earl Grey, and when paired with a warm sweater, combine to create the perfect cozy, academic look. But, of course, no Earl Grey-inspired outfit would be complete without a matching gold candlestick-turned-teacup.

Taking inspiration from the deep red color of tea, a mulled wine tea-inspired outfit incorporates lots of brown and some gold details.Lauren Herd for varsity

Yes, Christmas is still a few months away, but Bridgemas is approaching us at breakneck speed! Wine-flavored hot tea may seem strange, but it has been tried and tested by the previous supervisors of a well-stocked (when it comes to tea) medieval literature supervisor. Taking inspiration from the deep red color of tea, a mulled wine tea-inspired outfit incorporates lots of brown and some gold details. This look features a red circular skirt, combining the fun party associated with drinking with a little home comfort. The brown sweater, likewise, is loose and comfortable – allowing for plenty of mince pies to be consumed! The golden accessories are inspired by the dried oranges and cinnamon sticks often used to complement the drink that inspired this tea. And what better way to embrace the cozy fall vibes inspired by a mug of hot tea than to find some tea-style jewelry to match?

This outfit is warm, cozy and comforting, just like lavenderLauren Herd for varsity

Although lavender tea exists, it is much more commonly used as a component of “sleep” teas. Just like lavender itself, tea-inspired clothing doesn’t need to be more than a subtle nod to the feeling evoked by a hot drink you love. Teas that use lavender are comforting and calming, as are the soft fabrics that appear in this look. The rich tones of the purple sweater are complemented by the darker, softer blues of the jeans and jacket, which bring out the cozy lavender tea vibes.
