Woman, 83, killed and four people injured in Galashiel car crash

An 83-year-old woman has been killed and four people injured after a two-car crash in the Scottish Borders.

Emergency services were called to the scene of the collision involving a black Seat Altea and a gray Honda CRV on the A7 Abbotsford Road in Galashiels at 10.55am.

The driver of the Seat was taken to Borders General Hospital and pronounced dead a short time later.

The driver of the Honda, a 78-year-old man, was taken to Borders General Hospital along with three passengers: a 75-year-old woman, a 46-year-old woman and a 15-year-old boy. Their injuries are not life-threatening.
