A .5 million penthouse according to Olympic Torch Designer Lists in NYC

Like a fire flickering on an Olympic torch, this towering duplex is located on the top floor of this luxury building in New York. And it is a fitting image: the penthouse features interiors by Mathieu Lehanneur, the award-winning French designer behind the Olympic Games Paris 2024 Torch.

The $32.5 million Crown Jewelwhich also serves as an exhibition space, sits atop Selene New York, a luxury apartment on East 53rd Street by Foster + Partners. Lehanneur envisioned the 6,760 square feet of living space as his Parisian studio pied-à-terre for the design. It draws inspiration from natural elements such as air, water and fire for a “dynamic and layered experience,” according to a press release. Four bedrooms and four full bathrooms spread over two levels, alongside breathtaking vistas of the Big Apple skyline and beyond.

A private elevator provides access to the penthouse’s grand entrance gallery. Here, double-height ceilings of up to 12 feet boast views from the East River to the Atlantic Ocean. Floor-to-ceiling windows line the large corner room, which houses a number of quirky lighting fixtures, including a floral-inspired piece and a multi-sphere design, along with wooden floors. Central Park Towerthe world’s tallest residential building, can also be seen along the skyline.

As you enter the kitchen you will find oak cabinetry and Gaggenau appliances, as well as an Italian Carrara marble countertop and backsplash. Views of historic buildings such as the Chrysler Building and the Empire State Building can be seen directly from the formal dining room, which seats eight but can treat even larger groups to unobstructed sunset views for parties. Lehanneur’s colorful furniture placements and display of the Olympic torch (not included) add a beautiful touch to the home.
