Visitor from Canada hospitalized after vehicle gets stuck in landslide

HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) – A visitor from Canada was hospitalized after her group’s vehicle was caught in a landslide on Maui last weekend.

It happened on Sunday at around 10.30am on the Piilani Highway between Kipahulu and Kaupo roads.

We’re told the landslide hit the vehicle’s windshield and a rock went through the roof.

That rock struck the 66-year-old woman who was a passenger in the vehicle.

The woman had injuries to her right shoulder, arm and left leg. She was treated and taken to hospital.

There were three other people in the car, but no other injuries were reported.
