Stamford man identified in fatal front-end loader incident

STAMFORD, Conn. (WTNH) – Stamford police say a 64-year-old was killed Wednesday after being struck by a front-end loader.

Police said Gary Deleo was helping a customer behind a business on Magee Avenue around 8 a.m. when he was hit.

He was transported to a hospital where he succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased.

The front-end loader was driven by a 28-year-old Stamford resident at the time. News 8 is not identifying him because no charges have been filed. According to police, he cooperated with the investigation.

The Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) is investigating the incident with assistance from the Stamford Police Department.
