LA Dodgers fan in blue paint becomes symbol of World Series riots

A man covered from head to toe in wet blue paint was filmed scrawling a victory message across a sidewalk in Los Angeles as the city fell into chaos after the Dodgers’ World Series victory.

The man – who appeared to be wearing nothing but underwear – was seen on his hands and knees on an LA sidewalk marked “LA Champs” in front of an advancing column of police dressed in heavy riot gear.

As police approached, a crowd of partygoers encouraged the blue man to finish his work. But when they began to attack, the crowd dispersed, and he too realized that discretion is the greater part of courage.

One man in the crowd was knocked to the ground by officers, who grabbed him by his backpack and dragged him along the sidewalk, according to the startling footage captured by journalist Sean Beckner-Carmichael.

It remains unknown who the blue man was, or what became of him.

A screenshot of his wild-eyed flight has gone viral across the internet – a symbol of the more benign side of Wednesday night’s chaos.

A dozen people were arrested across LA as the city was consumed with riotous revelry after the team brought home the baseball championship.

Storefronts were broken open as looters made off with goods, while a city bus was overtaken and burned to ashes.

Fireworks were seen exploding over the heads of crowds walking through the city streets as cars sped through intersections at dangerous speeds and did donuts.

Pyres also occasionally burned on the streets of downtown LA and Echo Park.

The blue man appeared to evade police as they approached him, although it is unknown if he was later arrested AP

“Following the Dodgers World Series victory, there were several incidents involving unruly and sometimes violent and hostile celebrations,” the LAPD told The Post in a statement.

Police came out in full force to deal with the chaos, with officers firing “less-lethal ammunition” to disperse the crowds and mounted police blocking the streets.

Despite Wednesday’s chaos, the Dodgers’ victory parade is expected to be held in the city on Friday.
