Jim Ross explains his Danielson vs. Moxley.

Ross was called up for the AEW World Championship match between Moxley and Danielson at AEW WrestleDream. After the fight ended, Ross chose to say nothing and let the heartbreaking moment pass by.

In the latest edition of Grilling JR, Ross explained his decision, saying there was nothing he could have added to help sell the moment.

“Sometimes it’s better to just define it. At the end of the match I was silent because I didn’t know what I needed to say to continue selling the moment and the fact that Bryan Danielson, according to himself, said that the day he loses the title is the day he’s done – he obviously lost the title, so I consider him above any fighter I’ve ever met on his word. I didn’t know what to say. ‘Why didn’t you say something?’ Not my people, but just some fans. There was nothing I could add that would help. The images and natural sounds, in my opinion, told the story very well. That’s why I exposed it at the end. I know Excalibur was very emotional, he cried. I haven’t gone that far with it, but I appreciate your passion.”

Ross continued and praised the match, saying it told a great story.

“Anyway, it was a great match. It was a really good match, they told a great story. It was physical, it was intense. If Moxley was able to get that much passion out of Bryan, then good for him, it’s not that Bryan isn’t passionate, but you kind of had to go to a different level and a different place with this scenario.”

Elsewhere in the interview, Ross shared his opinion on how Mercedes Mone was booked in AEW. Check out his full comments here.
