Linn County crash driver dies

LINN COUNTY, Iowa (KCRG) – The Linn County Sheriff’s Office said the driver was killed in a crash earlier this month.

Officers responded to a crash at 3:20 a.m. Oct. 20 at the intersection of Monticello and Prairieburg Roads. They say Chad Landas, 48, of Hopkinton, ran his blue Mercury Sable off the road and rolled it into a field.

Landas was the only person in the vehicle at the time of the accident. Officers say he was trapped in his vehicle and had to be removed. An air ambulance took him to the University of Iowa Health Care Medical Center, where he died on October 31.

The sheriff’s office says he was wearing his seat belt. The crash is still under investigation.
