The other Ted vying for the Texas Senate demands one mysterious pop-up Super PAC stop circulating mailers and campaign ads supporting him, including those calling incumbent Senator Ted Cruz a “cuck” and “spineless simp.”

Texas Senate Libertarian hopeful Ted Brown attacked the Save Western Culture PAC for distorting some of his views, particularly on immigration, and expressed dismay at his name being featured in ads he did not approve .

‘The problem is that they misrepresent my message. And I don’t want people to think I’m one of those right-wing anti-immigrants when I’m not,” Brown told The Post.

“I don’t want them to think I’m playing hit pieces about people on TV,” he added. “I am a very polite person.”

The Save Western Culture PAC has become a late-stage player in at least a dozen competitive House races and the Senate contests in Texas and Maryland, often backing what some consider spoiler candidates.

The group registered with the Federal Election Commission on Oct. 11, ensuring that donor information would likely remain secret until Election Day.

To date, Save Western Culture has spent more than $1 million to help boost Libertarian candidates in tight races, according to available evidence. Republican Party Republicans suspect left-wing groups are behind the PAC.

Based on flyers and ads seen by The Post, Save Western Culture has generally worked to portray libertarian aspirants as more pro-Trump than Republican candidates in tight races.

When The Post previously tried to contact the Save Western Culture PAC, the number listed on the FEC forms was inactive.

Brown was also unable to contact the PAC, but told The Post the message he sent.

“This is Ted Brown, the Senate candidate you ‘helped’ with your independent expenditure ads,” his message to the PAC read in part. “That’s really not something I want my name on. “I don’t know what else you have in store, and I know you can’t work with a candidate, but I don’t like attack ads.”

In recent days, Brown says he has received some pushback from voters unhappy with some of the ads the PAC has funded in his name.

One flyer distributed complained that “the border is overrun with illegals and criminals” and taunted the incumbent Cruz, suggesting he needed to “man up a man.”

An angry Texan emailed Brown photos of a commercial he said appeared on the Weather Channel from his Roku device, calling it “really tasteless” and “one of the most disturbing ads I have ever seen in my life.”

That spot similarly went after Cruz’s masculinity, calling him the “Cucked King” and basing the Lone Star State senator on his infamous trip to “Cuck Cun,” a play on Cancun, when Texas was experiencing a cold snap in 2021 which led to widespread power outages. . It further suggested that Cruz’s wife Heidi must have thought he was a “Cucked Soy Boy.”

A PAC-backed text called Brown a ‘conservative libertarian’

“The Texas way of life is under threat. The WOKE MOB is destroying us while ILLEGALS CROSS OUR BORDER. Senator TED CRUZ SUPPORTS a plan that would have allowed more than 11 MILLION ILLEGALS to remain in the United States,” it said.

“TED BROWN is running for Senate and HAS MOMENTUM. He will end the immigration invasion with free market solutions.”

Cruz may be Senate Democrats’ first target this cycle, as his seat is widely seen as the most competitive among Republican incumbents. He faces stiff competition from Rep. Colin Allred (D-Texas).

The Post contacted both Cruz and Allred’s campaigns for comment.

“I wouldn’t call it cheating. I mean, all’s fair in love and war. It’s like politics: try to suppress the other person’s voice,” Brown thought. “If they’re going to send something with my name on it, I would want it to reflect my opinion.”

Still, Brown doesn’t expect to file a lawsuit against the enigmatic super PAC at this stage.

Brown also shrugged off concerns that he would act as a spoiler in the Senate race.

“They always say that about libertarians and about green candidates,” he said. “You can’t spoil something that’s already rotten and rotten.”

Maryland Senate hopeful Larry Hogan’s team railed against the Save Western Culture PAC’s interference in that race, with a spokesperson emphasizing that “lying to voters while asking for their trust is a slap in the face to our most sacred democratic processes.”

This week, The Post obtained audio from a phone banker affiliated with the PAC highlighting his antics against Hogan.

“Lockdown Larry said Biden won the 2020 election, closed our jobs and our schools, called President Trump outrageous and unacceptable, and that conservative values are absurd and dangerous,” the call said.

Notably, the candidate the PAC is supporting in that race — Libertarian Mike Scott — similarly told The Post he had no connection to the group. Additionally, Scott was a fierce critic of former President Donald Trump.

In Iowa District 1, Rep. Mariannette Miller-Meeks (R) was hit with ads from the group criticizing her for supporting legislation that supported Muslim countries.

“Marianeette Miller-Meeks believes our tax dollars should be sent to an Islamic State,” a flyer from the group said.

The Cook political report rates the seat as a Republican toss-up.

“RINO Marianeette Miller-Meeks supported the use of our tax dollars to arm an Islamic State and supply weapons to a Muslim nation. American leaders must fight to contain the spread of Islam and prevent Sharia law,” the PAC said in a statement.

“Every election cycle, national Democrats set up dark money groups designed to confuse voters and support third-party candidates who have no chance of winning,” Mike Berg, communications director for the National Republican Senatorial Committee, previously told The Post.

“This appears to be more of the same, and voters should reject this disingenuous tactic.”
