Frightening end to Halloween, looking at the next weather maker

WAUSAU, Wis. (WSAW) – Happy Halloween! Ghostly rain and isolated snow showers hit north-central Wisconsin on Thursday. Snow showers hitting the region will be minimal in parts of the Northwoods. No less, the much-needed rainfall went some way in easing the drought in the state.

Low pressure will follow NE through the area Thursday evening with showers, drizzle and some rain/snow showers in the Northwoods. Any snowfall will be small, with up to 1″ of coating possible, especially on unpaved and elevated surfaces. Mostly cloudy from Thursday evening to Friday morning. Lows will drop back to the upper 20s in the north and low 30s in the center and south.

There will be a mix of sunshine and some clouds on Friday. Cool and not so airy. Highs in the low to mid 40s.

The weekend starts dry on Saturday with quite a bit of sun and seasonal temperatures. Highs in the low 50s. A First Alert for the next weather maker on Sunday with showers in the morning, followed by periods of rain in the afternoon, mainly from Highway 29 south. Highs in the low 50s.

Further periods of wet weather are forecast for Monday and Tuesday on Election Day. Keep the umbrella handy. Highs on Monday will be in the low 60s, while highs on Tuesday could reach the 50s in the morning, dropping back to the 40s as the day progresses.
