Law enforcement searching for murder suspect in Chapin

CHAPIN, SC (WIS) – The Chapin Police Department, in conjunction with multiple law enforcement partners, is conducting an active search in and around the Chapin area for 45-year-old Nicholas Wayne Hamlett, who is actively wanted for murder.

Hamlett is believed to be in the Chapin area and is believed to be armed and dangerous.

Law enforcement deployed throughout the city of Chapin Thursday evening, including multiple officers, helicopters and K-9s. According to authorities, the suspect has not yet been located.

Officers say they will continue to circulate and patrol throughout the night. They say they will deploy other resources as more information about his whereabouts becomes available. The Chapin Police Department advises everyone to lock their doors tonight and call 911 if anything is suspicious.

Hamlett is believed to be in the Chapin area and is believed to be armed and dangerous.

If you see someone matching Hamlett’s description, authorities say not to approach and to call 911 immediately.
