UEA Sportspark where student died set to reopen on Saturday

The sports center where a university student died while exercising is expected to reopen on Saturday, but its gym remains closed.

The Sportspark, at the University of East Anglia (UEA) in Norwich, was closed on Wednesday following a medical incident at around 7pm BST.

The Norwich Medical School student, a 20-year-old man named locally as Mohammed Farraj, died in the center’s gymnasium, Norfolk police said.

“The thoughts of everyone in the UEA community are with the student’s family and friends,” the university said in an update, externaladding that the gym would remain closed until further notice.
