Velva-DAG football prepares for the quarter-final against Harvey/Wells County

VELVA, N.D. (KMOT) – No. 2 Velva-DAG football welcomes No. 7 Harvey/Wells County for the Class A quarterfinals, an Aug. 30 rematch.

The Aggies defeated the Hornets 36-0 to start an eight-game winning streak. They won their first round match against Southern McLean handily to advance.

Meanwhile, Harvey/Wells County is on a seven-match winning streak, including a 14-7 first-round win against Ellendale/Edgeley/Kulm after starting the season 0-3.

Velva head coach Matt Weidler says the Hornets have come a long way since the start of the year.

“They are definitely not the same team as they were in week two. I expect to see some different things from them. I thought they got a lot better as the games went on. Our guys understand, they’ve seen the movie, how explosive they are. They have a lot of playmakers and they are also chasing you up front,” said Weidler.

Kickoff between the Aggies and Hornets is Saturday at 2 p.m. in Velva.
