‘Phenomenal’ – The seven minutes inspired by Heung-Min Son that could change Tottenham’s season

In the space of seven minutes of the second half, Tottenham came alive against London rivals West Ham in the Premier League opener on Saturday.

With the score 1-1 at half-time, a goal from Yves Bissouma in the 53rd minute began a turbulent period for the home team – and an unforgettable one for the Hammers.

Heung-Min Son, returning to the Spurs squad after missing several games with a hamstring problem picked up during the Europa League, was at the center of the three-goal blitz.

He followed up Bissouma’s 2-1 goal, forcing Alphonse Areola to concede an own goal, before making it 4-1 in what turned out to be the full-time score.

His attacking prowess during the volley was also noteworthy, with renowned football journalist Miguel Delaney comparing the South Korean’s contributions to those of the legendary Eric Cantona.

Even football fans who didn’t love either side were impressed, as a social media account with username ‘CFC’ admitted that Son was “phenomenal” during the game.

And with Ange Postcoglou’s side frustrated by their stuttering start to the season so far, such an impressive run to take full command against another London side could prove a seminal moment in Spurs’ 2024/25 campaign.
