Prosecutors Deny Leaking Video of Diddy and Cassie Attack, Raising ‘Serious Concerns’ About Victims

Prosecutors inside Sean “Diddy” CombsThe ongoing lawsuit has denied that footage of the disgraced rapper physically assaulting his now-ex was deliberately leaked Cassie in 2016.

In court documents filed on Wednesday, October 30 and obtained by Our weekly, Prosecutors resisted Diddy’s requests for a gag order in connection with the video.

“The Court should deny the Leak Motion for the simple reason that Defendant fails to establish the leak of any grand jury materials,” the court documents said. “Without any factual basis, the Leak Motion seeks to suppress very evidentiary evidence – a video of Combs brutally physically assaulting a victim in March 2016 and published by a media outlet in May 2024 – by claiming that the government’s grand jury leaked material was. agents to CNN.”

The motion adds: “But as defendant is fully aware, the video was not in the possession of the government at the time of CNN’s publication and the government never, at any time, obtained the video through a grand jury trial.”

Video of Diddy allegedly assaulting Cassie is expected to be the ‘key piece’ of the trial against the performer

Diddy’s trial is currently set to begin in 2025, with his lawyers trying to keep the CNN footage out of court.

“The defendant is grasping at straws. Because defendant cannot show that the information in the cited articles is grand jury material, and because he cannot show that government agents with access to grand jury material leaked the information, he cannot establish a prima facie case that necessary for the relief he seeks.” Prosecutors add the court documents and deny that other sensitive material was leaked to other news sources. “Moreover, even if any information contained in the cited articles could be considered non-public information improperly disclosed, the defendant’s claim for damages under Local Penal Rule 23.1 is mooted by the order issued by this court was entered on October 25, 2024.”

In the documents, the lawyers also raised “serious concerns” about Diddy’s alleged victims and witnesses.

“Here, as described in the indictment and during the bail hearings, the defendant has a significant history of violence and obstruction,” the filing said. “Indeed, Judge Carter clear and convincing evidence at the end of the second hearing shows that the suspect “poses a danger with respect to obstruction of justice and witness tampering” and “poses a danger to the safety of others in the community at large.” ‘ Because of the defendant’s history, the government has serious concerns about the safety of victims and the potential for witness tampering if a list of victims’ names is provided to the defendant.”

CNN obtained and published a video in May, Diddy, now 54, was seen grabbing Cassie, now 37, by the neck and repeatedly pushing, dragging and kicking her while she was at a Los Angeles hotel. The footage was timestamped from 2016.

In a few hours, Diddy apologized for his actions without directly naming Cassie (full name Casandra Ventura).

“It’s hard to think about the darkest times in your life, sometimes you have to do that,” he said in an Instagram video. “I was lost. I mean, I’ve hit rock bottom, but I’m not making excuses. My behavior in that video is inexcusable. I take full responsibility for my actions in that video. I’m disgusted by it.”

Diddy added, “I started seeking professional help. I’m going to therapy, going to rehab. Had to ask God for his mercy and grace. I’m so sorry, but I want to be a better man every day. I don’t ask for forgiveness. I’m really sorry.”

Diddy and Cassie dated on and off between 2007 and 2018. Five years later, Cassie sued the music mogul in November 2023 for sexual assault and physical abuse that she alleged occurred over a ten-year period. Diddy vehemently denied all allegations against him and Cassie settled the lawsuit within one day.

Diddy was indicted by a grand jury in September arrested and charged with sex trafficking, extortion, conspiracy and transportation to engage in prostitution. The fourteen-page complaint, which also cited the CNN video of Diddy and Cassie, alleged that the rapper “abused, threatened and coerced women and others around him” for decades.

Diddy claims Homeland Security leaked the Cassie Assault video and files a motion for evidentiary hearing

Diddy pleaded not guilty on the charges before a judge denied him bail on three separate attempts. He was held at the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn until his trial.

“We are disappointed with the decision to proceed with what we believe is an unjust prosecution of Mr. Combs by the U.S. Attorney’s Office,” Diddy’s attorney said. Marc Agnifilo told We weekly in a statement earlier this month. “Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs is a music icon, self-made entrepreneur, loving family man and proven philanthropist who has spent the past 30 years building an empire, adores his children and working to uplift the Black community. He is an imperfect person, but he is not a criminal.”
