Chicago police officer affected by hit-and-run incident

An officer responding to a large gathering in the South Shore neighborhood overnight was struck by a vehicle while conducting a traffic stop, Chicago police said.

Around 2:15 a.m. Friday, officers responded to a large gathering in the 7500 block of South Phillips Avenue and an officer attempting to conduct the traffic stop was struck by a white sedan as it fled eastbound, police said.

The officer was hit in the leg, treated by paramedics and released.

No one was arrested and detectives were investigating.
