Superior sound and comfort with Sonos Ace headphones

Given its prowess in home speakers, Sonos fans – ourselves included – have been asking for years when the brand will bring its expertise to the headphone category. The answer: they are here now.

Called the Sonos AceThese premium over-the-ear Bluetooth headphones offer incredible lossless and spatial audio, world-class Active Noise Cancellation (ANC) and Aware Mode, as well as the most accurate and immersive home theater experience possible using Sonos’ new TrueCinema technology.

Ape to Gentleman was gifted a pair of Sonos Ace headphones for review; however, the words and opinions are those of Ape.

Stylish design and all-day comfort

The first thing we noticed upon unboxing was the Ace’s signature sleek profile, which combines high-quality metal accents with a stylish matte finish. They are sure to become an instant style hit for menswear enthusiasts.

These strong images do not come at the expense of comfort. A pillow-soft memory foam interior and an airy, lightweight fit provide all-day comfort without irritation. That’s a good thing, as the Sonos Ace delivers up to 30 hours of listening on a full charge and an impressive 3 hours of battery life with just 3 minutes of charging via the included USB-C cable.

Superior personal sound

Beyond aesthetics, Sonos leverages its extensive technological prowess with the Ace headphones. They include high-fidelity sound through two specially designed drivers, delivering our favorite songs with the precision and clarity to take our previous listening experiences to a new level of hearing and ‘feeling’.

This sense of escapism is only further enhanced by Active Noise Cancellation (ANC), delivering a truly isolating experience. We really see them come into their own on those long-haul flights. However, there are times when you need to pay closer attention to your surroundings (whether it’s a busy London street or working in an office) and Aware mode ensures that these ambient sounds filter through so you don’t miss anything.

Perhaps the most Sonos-like feature of these masterful headphones is the ability to instantly switch TV audio from a compatible Sonos soundbar to Ace at the touch of a button. Spatial audio with Dolby Atmos enveloped us in dramatically detailed sound from all directions, and dynamic head tracking kept us centered in the action no matter our movements.

Conclusion, prices and availability

During our extensive testing, the innovatively designed Ace headphones rocked us in comfort, while delivering the highest quality audio and a groundbreaking home theater experience that could only come from Sonos.
