Cosm entertainment venue is coming to Bedrock’s Development at Cadillac Square

Bedrock has tapped Cosm, an immersive technology, media and entertainment venue operator, to bring its Shared Reality live sports and entertainment concept to Cadillac Square.

The location is expected to open in 2026 as part of Bedrock’s highly anticipated Development at Cadillac Square project in downtown Detroit, formerly known as Monroe Blocks.

“Cosm is the future of sports and entertainment, putting people in the front row of the world’s biggest events,” said Dan Gilbert, founder of Bedrock, in a statement. “This was a transformative technology and experience that we knew we had to bring in. Detroit, and we can’t wait for everyone to experience it firsthand.”

Cosm, a Los Angeles-based company, says it combines the virtual and physical worlds, combining visuals with the excitement of a live audience.

“When fans come to Cosm, it’s the most incredible experience they can have outside of actually attending a live game,” Cosm president and CEO Jeb Terry told The Detroit News. “We call the concept shared reality. It combines all the great energy of the experience economy with the fantastic immersive technology sector and everything that’s happening in that space.”

Cosm Detroit can accommodate approximately 1,500 people, with more than 700 people enjoying the view inside a 26.6-meter-long, 12K+ LED dome. The location will have an adjacent space, the hall, which will be equipped with a high-resolution LED wall. The space will offer dining options that combine elements of a gastropub, sportsbook and lounge, Terry said. The space will also include a raised outdoor patio.

“We will never replace what it’s like to be in the stadium itself,” Terry said. “That’s such a special environment. But this is an opportunity for the fans who can’t get to the game, who can’t get to the sideline, the field or the rink. It’s for those fans and gives them a great experience .” experience in the live window format that they will love.”

The Development at Cadillac Square project is located in downtown Detroit, between Monroe and Randolph Streets, adjacent to Campus Martius Park.

The entertainment venue announcement comes after the Detroit Downtown Development Authority granted Bedrock an extension until May 1, 2025 to begin construction on the Cadillac Square development. Bedrock requested the expansion to adjust plans for the development theater following the Detroit Music Hall’s announcement in late 2023 that it would build a 1,900-seat concert hall.

The Detroit location will be the fourth for Cosm, which opened its first two locations this summer in California’s Hollywood Park and The Colony, Texas. A third location has been announced for Atlanta. Cosm has hired Rossetti to develop the location.

“We’ve always had Detroit on the map as a city we wanted to go to and as we developed the rollout strategy, we thought this was a great place to bring Cosm to the Midwest as a true anchor city,” Terry said. .

Programming at Cosm Detroit includes live sports through official partnerships with UFC, the NBA, NBC Sports, TNT Sports, FOX Sports and the NFL.

Customers can purchase tickets in advance or in person, Terry said. Ticket prices average around $33 for all offerings, including VIP seating and general admission, he said.
