Mary Trump ‘truly shocked’ by Donald Trump

Mary Trump, Donald Trump’s estranged niece, took to social media on Friday to mock her uncle for being “too exhausted” to give interviews, saying she is “truly shocked.”

As the presidential race enters its final stretch, both campaigns are working to win over the remaining undecided voters. Vice President Kamala Harris’ team has increased its media presence, investing heavily in digital and TV ads in key swing states, appearing on the Charlamagne tha God podcast to court black voters, and securing a rare solo interview on Fox News with Bret Baier .

Meanwhile, Trump had a media campaign, participating in interviews while participating in a pre-recorded women-only town hall with Fox host Harris Faulkner, followed by a Hispanic town hall on Univision.

But in a post on X (formerly Twitter), Mary Trump, an outspoken critic of her uncle, mocked the former president over reports that he is too tired to give interviews.

“I’m really shocked that Donald is ‘too exhausted’ to give interviews. He eats so well and exercises so often,” wrote Mary Trump.

In a separate post on XMary Trump reacted to a video of Trump during his campaign roundtable in Auburn Hills, Michigan, on Friday, in which journalist Aaron Rupar shared a moment where he apparently “dozed off.”

In response to the video, Mary Trump tweeted: “I’m going to bet $5 on the unconscious before I finish speaking. Who’s with me?”

News week reached out to the Trump campaign via email for comment.

Mary Trump’s comments came after Trump, who regularly appears on conservative cable shows and podcasts, recently withdrew from scheduled appearances on the CBS show. 60 minutesas well as meetings with NBC in Philadelphia and CNBC Scream box.

Additionally, Trump’s team was reportedly trying to get the former president interviewed by Shade Room, an Instagram-based company that has a large young black audience.

A Trump adviser told Shade Room producers that an interview had not been scheduled because Trump was “exhausted and declining (some) interviews, but that could change,” according to Politico’s Playbook.

However, Trump’s national press secretary, Karoline Leavitt, denied reports that he is refusing media interviews because he is exhausted, calling them “unequivocally false.”

“President Trump has been running circles around Kamala Harris during the campaign,” Leavitt said. “And he gave media interviews every day this week. He has more energy and a harder work ethic than anyone in politics.”

Harris and her campaign have used the exhaustion reports to suggest the 78-year-old Republican candidate cannot serve another term.

“Being president of the United States is probably one of the hardest jobs in the world,” said Harris, who turns 60 on Sunday in Michigan. “And so we really need to ask if he’s exhausted from being on the campaign trail. Is he fit to do the job?”

In response, Trump told reporters on Friday that Harris was “a loser.”

“She’s not going to any events,” he said. “I’ve been without rest for 48 days. And I have that loser who doesn’t have the energy of a rabbit. I’m not even tired. I am really happy.”
