New Horror With Awesome Rotten Tomatoes Score Gets First Full Trailer And It's All Shot From The POV Of A Supernatural Entity

Presence, Steven Soderbergh’s new horror film that “turns the haunted house subgenre on its head,” has unveiled its first full trailer — and it’s just as creepy as you’d expect from a film shot entirely through the eyes of a ghost told.

Starring Lucy Liu, it follows Rebekah, a mother who moves her reluctant family to a quiet suburb, into a hundred-year-old house.

Although Rebekah has two children, a fact her husband Chris (Chris Sullivan) has to remind her of regularly, she devotes her attention solely to her small-minded, competitive swimmer son Tyler (Eddy Maday). Now focused elsewhere, Rebekah barely notices when her daughter Chloe (Calliana Liana), who is grieving the loss of a friend, begins claiming that all is not well with their new home.

Not that the promo, which you can watch above, gives anything away. Instead, it simply sees the entity eerily watching over the family as they sleep, watch TV, look out the front room window and more, before it starts to ramp up its scares towards the end of the clip.

It was written by David Koepp (Jurassic Park, Carlito’s Way, Panic Room) and currently has an impressive 89% on Rotten Tomatoes, with Check prices describes it as “one of the scariest films of the year”.

Soderbergh is no stranger to shaking up the theater experience. In 2018, he shot the Claire Foy-led thriller Unsane on an iPhone 7 Plus. On the other hand, before Presence, he helmed comedy-drama threequel Magic Mike’s last dance.

Presence will be released in US cinemas in January 2025, but an exact date or when the film will be released in UK cinemas has yet to be confirmed.
