(COLORADO SPRINGS) – The El Paso County Sheriff’s Office (EPSO) has arrested a man in connection with a shooting that occurred on Thursday, October 31st.

When they arrived, officers issued a shelter-in-place order for nearby neighbors and secured the accident scene. Officers found two men with non-life-threatening injuries who were taken to hospital for evaluation.

EPSO determined that the incident was the result of a disturbance the previous night. Everyone involved knew each other. EPSO said the suspect, 77-year-old Gary Spicer, confronted his son-in-law, leading to a verbal altercation.

The son-in-law’s roommate intervened and the son-in-law left the area. Another fight then ensued between the roommate and Spicer, during which the 77-year-old fired his weapon. EPSO said Spicer was disarmed and subdued until police arrived.

Spicer is charged with attempted murder, first-degree assault and menacing. He was booked into the El Paso County Jail after being treated at the hospital. The housemate was also released from the hospital the same day.

The Sheriff’s Office said this is an active investigation. Anyone with information about this case is asked to call the Sheriff’s Office Tip Line at (719) 520-7777.
