Bihar bypolls: Mahagathbandhan announces its candidates

The Mahagathbandhan (opposition alliance) in Bihar has announced its candidates for by-elections in four seats scheduled for November 13. The last day to submit nominations is October 25th and results will be announced on November 23rd. they were elected as MPs in the Lok Sabha elections.

The four seats where polling would be held are Ramgarh, Tarari, Belaganj and Imamganj.

The grand alliance fielded RJD candidate Ajit Kumar Singh from Ramgarh Assembly seat. RJD leader Vishwanath Yadav was fielded from Belaganj, CPI(ML) candidate Raju Yadav from Tarari and Roshan Kumar Manjhi alias Rajesh Manjhi was fielded from Imamganj Assembly constituency.

In this by-election, the Jan Suraaj Party, founded by Prashant Kishor, would also dive into the battlefield “to test its political-electoral strength”.

The NDA has nominated its candidates for two of the four Assembly seats. The BJP has fielded former MLA Ashok Kumar Singh from Ramgarh and Vishal Prashant from Tarari.

Singh was fielded by the BJP in a seat he won in 2015 but lost five years later to RJD candidate Sudhakar Singh. Meanwhile, the BJP has fielded Prashant, a newcomer from the Tarari Assembly seat.
