Elon Musk gives random petition signer a check for million

  • Elon Musk gave a random petition signer a check for $1 million on Saturday.
  • Musk promised to do the same every day until the US elections on November 5th.
  • The petition, released by his super PAC, aims to support free speech and the right to bear arms.

Elon Musk gave a $1 million check to a man who signed his petition to support free speech and the right to bear arms — and he’s not stopping there.

Musk announced on X that he planned to donate $1 million to a random resident of a swing state who signed the petition every day until the US elections on November 5th.

“We want to make sure everyone in the swing states hears about this, and I suspect this will ensure they do,” he wrote.

The tech billionaire kicked off the toasts at a rally in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, on Saturday night, handing a check for $1 million to a man in the audience named John Dreher.

“John had no idea,” Musk said after inviting Dreher to join him on stage. “Anyway, you’re welcome.”

“The only thing we ask for the $1 million is that you be a spokesperson for the petition, and that’s it,” he added.

Speaking in a promotional video for the petition, Dreher said: “You know, when he called me, the first thing that happened, you know, I screamed – it’s a million dollars – and I was throwing my check in the air.”

“Knowing Elon, I kind of forgot about the money a little bit, as he is such an influential figure,” he added.

This is not the first time that Musk has offered a financial incentive for people to sign the petition.

Musk has previously offered $100 to registered voters in Pennsylvania who sign up and $47 to nominators from voters in swing states.

The petition was launched by Musk’s America PAC, a super PAC he created to support Trump using nearly $75 million of his own funds.

The PAC was created to “support candidates who advocate for Secure Borders, Sensible Spending, Safe Cities, a Fair Justice System, Freedom of Speech, and Self-Protection,” according to its X bio.

Musk publicly supported Trump following an assassination attempt on the former president in July.
