Technical problem and weather conditions cause flight cancellations – FBC News

Fiji Link yesterday apologized for the cancellation of domestic flights on a number of routes.

It said their flight FJZ/FJ34 from Suva to Labasa returned to Nausori shortly after departure due to a technical problem.

It adds that following an initial assessment, additional troubleshooting was required for the aircraft, which required it to be transported to Nadi for further inspection and as a result, flights FJ181/180 to Rotuma were canceled to allow the restoration of services on the Suva- to facilitate Labasa-Suva.

In addition, Fiji Link says adverse weather conditions affected later flights, with cancellations imposed just before the departures of FJ36 (Suva-Labasa) and FJ86 (Labasa-Nadi).

FBC News understands that most passengers had planned this trip to celebrate Diwali with their loved ones. Fiji Link says it understands the impact this cancellation has caused and apologizes for it.

It says their team is working tirelessly to assist affected passengers, including arranging alternative accommodation and transfers where possible.

National Airline says it is working to restore scheduled services.
