The release of 700 minks from central Pa. fur farm was considered an act of domestic terrorism

SUNBURY — “Plain and simple, it was a terrorist attack” is how the executive director of the Fur Commission USA describes the release of 700 minks from their cages on a farm in Northumberland County.

Because of a perimeter fence, few or none of the minks released Saturday morning at the Richard H. Stahl Son’s Inc. farm escaped, Challis Hobbs said.

Because the security cameras were installed after a similar incident in September 2023, when hundreds of minks were released from the farm, police were notified immediately, he said.
