Prabowo announces his ‘Red and White’ cabinet, Sugiono named Indonesia’s new foreign minister

JAKARTA: Indonesia’s newly sworn-in President Prabowo Subianto on Sunday evening (October 20) announced his cabinet of 48 ministers.

After the presidential gala dinner at Merdeka Palace in Jakarta, Prabowo revealed that it will be known as the “Red and White Cabinet”.

“By agreement between the leaders of the political parties in our coalition, we call this cabinet the ‘Red and White Cabinet’,” he said on Sunday night.

Although he had a mix of professional and political appointees, most of the ministers related to the economy remained the same as those of his predecessor Jokowi.

An important announcement was made for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs which will now be led by Sugiono who goes by a name. ONE A former member of the army’s special forces, he is vice-president of Prabowo’s Gerindra Party.

Rosan Perkasa Roeslani returned as investment minister and Sri Mulyani Indrawati and Erick Thohir retained their respective finance and state-owned enterprise portfolios.

Former army general Prabowo won the February 14 election with almost 60 percent of the vote and has spent the last nine months building a formidable parliamentary coalition.
