Akron man sentenced to life in prison after pleading guilty to raping two children

An Akron man was sentenced Friday to life in prison without parole after being found guilty of raping two children in his care, the Summit County Prosecutor’s Office said in a news release.

On August 15, Scott Jacobson pleaded guilty to the following charges: two counts of rape with sexually violent predator specifications, first-degree felonies; 10 counts of pandering sexually oriented matter involving a minor, second-degree felony; and two counts of gross sexual imposition, felonies of the third degree.

Judge Mary Margaret Rowlands also found Jacobson guilty of the sexually violent predator specification and labeled him a Level III sex offender.

The designation means that if Jacobson is ever released from prison, he will have to register with the local sheriff every 90 days for the rest of his life.

Jacobson admitted to raping two children and possessing child pornography.

Co-defendant Kristina Jacobson faces the following charges: rape, a first-degree felony; two counts of illegal use of a minor or disabled person in nudity-oriented material or performance, a second-degree felony; and gross sexual imposition, a third-degree felony.

Rowlands has scheduled a status hearing for Kristina Jacobson for December 18.
