The Med City Nursing Alliance, an independent effort to unionize nurses at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, is holding a silent march on Monday, May 6, 2024, the first day of National Nurses Week.

The march will begin at 6:30 a.m. on the north side of the Mayo Clinic-Saint Marys Hospital campus and progress east along Second Street Southwest, according to event permitting documents shared with the Post Bulletin. The march will end at Peace Plaza near the Methodist Hospital campus.

The Rochester Police Department “will provide traffic control for protesters from St Marys Hospital to Peace Plaza on May 6 from 6:30 a.m. to 7:00 a.m.,” according to a public service announcement issued Thursday by the City of Rochester. MCNA expects at least 200 people to participate in the march, according to the permit.

Follow a recap of the walk below:

Our newsroom occasionally reports stories under the byline “staff.” Often, the byline “personnel” is used when rewriting basic informational documents that come from official sources, such as a city press release regarding a road closure, and that require little or no reporting. Sometimes this byline is used when a news story includes many authors or when the news story is formed by aggregating previously reported information from various sources. If outside sources are used, this is noted in the story.
