Premier League team increases stadium capacity using World Cup venue-inspired hack that includes ‘luxury rooftop suite’

A PREMIER LEAGUE team has increased the capacity of its stadium with a hack inspired by a World Cup venue.

Stadium 974 became one of the most exclusive grounds when it was built for the 2022 tournament in Qatar.

The stadium was built from shipping containers as a “beacon of sustainability”.

The premise of the land would be that it could be dismantled and rebuilt on another continent for other football tournaments.

Nottingham Forest took inspiration from the idea when building a new seating area at The City Ground.

The new feature at the iconic ground is in the corner between Trent End and the Brian Clough Stand.

The facility includes 20 hospitality pods – made from shipping containers – and can house up to 180 people across five floors.

At the top of the new stand are what the club describes as “two exclusive private luxury rooftop suites”.

The club explains: “The suite will have direct access to outdoor cushioned seating on the balcony for the best views to enjoy all the Premier League action.”

The other four levels are “luxury suites designed for 34 guests each,” the club says.

Club owner Evangelos Marinakis is behind the new feature, but he will not be able to use it for a while after receiving a five-match STADIUM BAN.

He was punished following his furious outburst following Forest’s 1-0 defeat to Fulham.

Fans who secure a place in one of the groups for a match will be entitled to a pre-match buffet and use of an included bar.

A former Forest player will also visit and tell fans stories from his career.

The installation of the new stand meant that a screen was removed from the corner.

This affected some supporters’ ability to see highlights that would have been shown on the big screen.

Capacity at the East Midlands ground is now 30,445.

Marinakis recently paid for the multi-million pound renovation of the club’s training ground.

There are also long-term plans to renovate The City Ground, which would see the demolition of Peter Taylor’s stand.

A large new structure would be built in its place to further increase capacity.
