Boise Brewing Now Offers Common Stock

Boise Brewing celebrated May 1st by making it public.

On Wednesday, Boise Brewing announced its new stock offering, seeking to expand its market reach by offering up to $1,040,000 worth of common stock.

The brewery/restaurant/bar, a community business, was founded in downtown Boise in 2014. Founder and president Collin Rudeen said in a press release that he wanted to create a space in which community members could invest – literally.

“It was my dream to bring high-quality craft beer to the Valley and allow members of our community to take ownership of a part of that process,” Rudeen said.

In addition to community ownership, Boise Brewing has invested in the community by hosting a rotating art exhibit of artists featured in Boise Weekly, something Rudeen wanted to do to promote local artists.

To give back to the community, a portion of the pint’s proceeds are donated to a local nonprofit organization each month, with more than $25,000 distributed to date. May sales benefit the Idaho Environmental Forum.

Rewards and upgrades

Boise Brewing is also a three-time winner of the World Beer Cup and a five-time winner of the Great American Beer Festival. Black Cliffs American Stout recently received a bronze medal in the American-Style Black Ale or American-Style Stout category. Jagged Shard won the silver medal in the Strong Red Ale category the previous year. According to Hayden Beverage, Boise Light, a local draft beer, continues to be the best-selling draft beer in the state, accounting for nearly 65 percent of the company’s total beer sales.

“It was with some trepidation that we began exploring a light craft beer, but after some experimentation, our head brewer created a recipe that exceeded all our expectations,” Rudeen said. “We were still having trouble marketing it, so we figured if we priced it $0.01 less than Bud Light, then maybe people would try it.”

The rest is Boise Brewing history.

The new stock offering will help the brewery make several improvements to its restaurant. One of the main ones will be the patio, a summer favorite among Boise State river floaters and game enthusiasts. The patio design features a steel frame with locally sourced plants and hardwoods that Rudeen fabricates himself.

Boise Brewing also offers several non-beer drinks. “We’ve noticed that younger generations are more interested in drinks,” Rudeen said. “We always want them to come and experience our live music, trivia nights and other events, so we also offer non-alcoholic beer, cocktails, cider and wine.”

Share ownership and community details

To own a piece of Boise Brewing — and get one of your own mugs for the brewery’s tap room — you’ll need to shell out at least $1,000. This will give you voting rights, dividends when there are profits, monthly refilling – and yes, your own cup.

If you invest $2,500 or more, you’ll also have access to “secret” menu items that will likely be accessible with a password.
