Sean Diddy Combs is currently faced with several lawsuits which could see the rapper serve a significant prison sentence depending on the legitimacy of the charges. Cassie Ventura’s landmark lawsuit against Diddy is largely seen as the catalyst that sparked the mogul’s recent legal troubles. However, some time before Cassie, there was someone who sued Diddy for his alleged behavior.

In 2017, Cindy Rueda sued Diddy for sexual assault The Hollywood Reporter. Rueda claimed she started working for Combs in 2015, but immediately ran into trouble when Diddy allegedly didn’t pay her overtime. But Rueda claimed the situation got worse after Diddy made her serve food to him and his co-workers after she performed sex acts. This eventually led to Rueda having to deliver food to Diddy while he himself was naked, claiming he asked her about his body.

After Rueda discussed her concerns with the workforce, she was fired on the spot. Additionally, Rueda claimed that she was charged with theft as punishment for speaking out.

“In the days that followed, Plaintiff was charged with theft and told that she would not be prosecuted if she returned the watch and signed a waiver of all rights and claims against Defendants,” Rueda’s attorney said.

But Diddy’s team denied at the time that Rueda’s lawsuit had any merit.

“This is a frivolous lawsuit from a disgruntled former employee who was fired for cause,” they said.

NBC Los Angeles reported that Rueda and Diddy would settle the lawsuit settled out of court two years later for an undisclosed amount.

Sean “Diddy” Combs wanted the names of other alleged victims released

If we are to believe certain sources, Rueda was not the only one who was abused by the music mogul. Following his arrest, more and more accusers have come forward claiming they are seeking retribution for Diddy’s actions. Earlier last month, it was reported that Diddy was facing lawsuits from 120 potential victims.

“Counsel for these plaintiffs recently called a press conference (pre-filing) at which he purported to represent 120 plaintiffs who made outrageous and deeply prejudicial allegations, including forcible sexual assault and sexual abuse of minors,” Diddy’s legal team wrote, according to documents obtained by We weekly.

But due to the sensitive nature of the case and Diddy’s own celebrity, the music mogul’s counsel requested identification of these anonymous accusers. His counsel argued that the secrecy surrounding some of these accusers called into question the legitimacy of the claims.

“The press conference and the 1-800 call that preceded today’s barrage of filings were clear attempts to garner publicity. Mr. Combs and his legal team have complete confidence in the facts, their legal defense and the integrity of the judicial process. In court, the truth will prevail: that Mr. Combs has never been sexually abused everyone – adult or minor, male or female,” they said.

“These swirling allegations have created a hysterical media circus that, if left unchecked, will irreparably deprive Mr. Combs of due process, if they have not already done so,” they added.

The anonymity some prosecutors claim is already starting to negatively impact some of their cases. NBC News reported that a judge ordered one of Diddy’s many accusers to reveal his identity. The reasoning behind the judge’s decision was that there was insufficient evidence that the anonymous plaintiff would be harmed if her name were revealed. The risk of public scrutiny was there, but it was a risk that had to be taken in order to conduct a fair trial. If the prosecutor does not release her name, her case will be dismissed.

In the future, this could be a ruling that also affects other plaintiffs.
