Homebush crash: Man allegedly attacked after 16-year-old driver hits 17-year-old pedestrian in Queensland

Police are investigating a serious car-pedestrian accident and subsequent assault that allegedly occurred on Saturday night.

Reports indicate a white utility driver was seen driving dangerously along Homebush Road in Homebush, Queensland, around 9:45 p.m.

Shortly thereafter, a red Mazda 3 traveling westbound struck a 17-year-old girl who was in the roadway.

After the collision, the Mazda continued driving briefly before stopping, at which point a group of people nearby reportedly approached and assaulted a 53-year-old male passenger.

Police arrived on the scene shortly afterwards and dispersed the crowd.

The 17-year-old Glenella girl was transported to Mackay Base Hospital where she remains in serious but stable condition.

The 53-year-old man from Sarina who was allegedly assaulted was treated at the scene.

Three others in the Mazda, including a 16-year-old female driver, a 12-year-old boy and a 56-year-old woman, were uninjured.
