The Federal University of Petroleum is a public higher education institution located in Effurun, Delta State, Nigeria. FUPRE aims to become a premier international institution, providing food, research, consultancy and extension services for the petroleum and related sectors. To this end, the school has dedicated itself to encouraging innovation among its students in the areas of science, technology, engineering and mathematics.

FUPRE courses

As its name suggests, the Federal University of Petroleum offers energy-focused learning paths, ranging from basic pre-graduate courses to undergraduate and postgraduate studies.

Basic Studies Program (Pre-Degree)

This pre-degree program caters to students preparing for the UTME or WASC/NECO/GCE examination and equivalent examinations to meet the admission requirements of their desired programs. In the nine-month program, candidates can expect intensive training in the below disciplines;

Foundation program

Candidates who successfully complete this program will receive a certificate from the Joint Universities Preliminary Examination Board (JUPEB). This allows them to gain direct admission into 200-level subjects.

As in the Basic Pre-degree program, students learn English Language, Chemistry, Biology, Mathematics and Physics. These subjects are proportional to the 100 and 200 level undergraduate courses currently offered at FUPRE.

Undergraduate courses

To apply for admission into any course offered at FUPRE, candidates must have applied for admission to the University as their first choice in the 2024 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examinations (UTME).

What is the FUPRE cutoff score?

To gain admission into the Federal University of Petroleum Resources Effurun, students must achieve a cut-off score of 150 points or above. This applies to all university courses.

  • A minimum of 5 credits in at least five O’ Level subjects, including English Language and Mathematics.
  • 3 relevant subjects in not more than 2 sittings in GCE, SSCE, WAEC, NECO and NABTEB with results obtained before registration.
  • An application fee of ₦10,000 for the Foundation Studies Program and ₦15,000 for the Foundation program.
  • For international students, registration for the Foundation program costs US$50.

Post-UTME Screening Process

Registration for the post-UTME screening exercise is mandatory for undergraduate candidates. Below is a complete guide on how to register for FUPRE for post-UTME screening and registration;

  1. Pay online with your ATM card or at the bank using your RRR number through the Remita platform.
  2. Carefully complete all required fields and submit and print your confirmation page.
  3. Monitor the status of your application by logging into your profile.
  4. Check the date and time of your individual exam on the registration confirmation page.

Registration process

  1. Tap the make payment button and enter your JAMB number
  2. Accept the validation prompt and follow the payment instructions.
  3. After payment, click on the ‘Sign up now’ button.
  4. Enter the payment RRR number and proceed.
  5. Complete the online application form and verify the information you entered.
  6. Once you are satisfied with the information provided, submit the application.
  7. Print the confirmation page.
  8. Log in to the student portal with your JAMB number and password to monitor your admission status.

The Student Online Academic Portal (SOAP) allows students to access a variety of services, from screening to payment and registration. To log in as new students, both Direct Entry (DE) and UTME candidates need to use their JAMB registration numbers.
